Taylor Arrington

I unfortunately have to pass on some more bad news in regards to another cancer child. Taylor was a beautiful, full of life, red-headed young lady that fought an extremely long battle with cancer. Yesterday (Sunday 4/22/07) she lost her battle. She was only 12 years old. We were blessed to meet and know Taylor and her family. She was a extremely brave person. Please visit her webpage by clicking here

Please join us in saying a prayer for her family and please take a moment to pray for all the kids that are sick and fighting for their lives. It all doesn't seem fair. Though we are devestated to hear this news, we know that she is with God and she is no longer having to fight this battle...

..The truth is, she has now won her battle.

Below are some pics of Taylor and Mikayla in some past activities.

Strawberry Pizza

Since strawberries are in full swing right now, here's what looks like a delicious desert using strawberries. If it's anything like my Grandma Miller's Blueberry Pizza, then it will make you drool.

Another fine recipe from the Happy Cookers Group - Kudos to Pa

Strawberry Pizza

6 tbsp butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Filling:
1 pkg (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1 cup sugar1/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups crushed strawberries

In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar for two minutes. Beat in the egg and the extracts. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for one hour. On a floured surface, roll the dough into a 13 inch circle. Transfer to an ungreased 12 inch pizza pan. Build up the edges slightly. Bake at 350 F. for 18 to 22 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and confectioners sugar until smooth. Spread over the crust. Arrange sliced strawberries on the top. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch, and crushed berries until blended. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir for two minutes or until thickened. Cool slightly. Spoon over the strawberries. Refrigerate until serving. Yield: 12-16 servings

Recently, Mik and friends joined a pie eating contest at church. I'm not sure who won, but apparently it doesn't really matter, as long as everyone had a good time.

My Ride..

Ok, I know it's NOT a 1971 Cutlass 442, but it's at least a 2 door hard top coupe, with a "Camaro" name plate. Geeze. It's a 1998 too, so it's not TOOO new. Just a little piece of Americana Stock Car heaven, OK!

Here's my oldy, but goodie. I sure do miss her :-(

R.I.P. Brad

Today we heard the bad news that Brad Delp, the orgininal lead singer to the band Boston had passed away. As most of you know (especially "the fellas") Boston is my favorite Rock-n-Roll band ever. Lots and lots of awesome memories.

So, here's a little music video tribute and the news from eonline here.

Rest in peace Brad

What happened to "Made in the USA"?

I'm sure everyone has seen this one (thanks Tiff)

.....sad, but true.

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA ) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG ). He put on a dress shirt ( MADE IN SRI LANKA ), designer jeans ( MADE IN SINGAPORE ) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA ). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA ) he sat down with his calculator ( MADE IN MEXICO ) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car ( MADE IN GERMANY ) filled i t with GAS from Saudi Arabia and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB . At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia ), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ) poured himself a glass of wine ( MADE IN FRANCE.! France!! ) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA ), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA.....

Back again...

Well, finally getting around to posting a little bit of stuff. Over the last week or so, the family has been a little under the weather, and that has been kinda tough, but I'm glad to say everyone is now back to doing their thing and all is well again. (whew).

So, I thought I'd get in here and post a few recent pics. Here's a few from the Lightning game Tuesday night. As always, another great game - Lightning beating Pheonix 5-3.
